We have several large outdoor banners & signs which will be posted off Richmond Road to the front entrance of the Centre.
We will be advertising in local papers, including Kitchissippi Times, the Ottawa Citizen and other publications. We are contacting local print media for coverage.
Postcards and posters will be printed and given to each potter for distribution. A week before the event we will make sure that coffee shops & other businesses in Westboro are postered.

Westend Pottery Sale 2014

Gift Baskets
The last few years we have asked everyone to contribute one pot (a mug, or something
of similar value) towards 4 gift baskets for which we made a draw. This has proven to be popular and is a good way to get some feedback about the effectiveness of
our advertising. Let’s
continue this tradition, so please bring a pot to
donate for this purpose. If you don’t have a suitable small piece
of pottery, you could bring a packet of coffee, nice chocolate, a small bottle
of maple syrup, etc.
A couple of potters volunteer to purchase 4 gift baskets, arrange the donated pottery in the baskets, and set up the table which contains the ballots, a basket for the completed ballots (provided by Jane) and an e-mail sign up sheet.
Cafe
We will have about 6 tables set up in a front corner of the hall. This year our cafe will be catered by Black Walnut Bakery from Cumberland--operated by one of our potters! Encourage your customers to stay for a snack, hot drink or light lunch, and to visit the Bakery in Cumberland!
Set-up Guidelines
As expressed in past years, we are trying to create an attractive ambiance where the work is the focalpoint, where it is well seen and easy to access. For those who may not have much experience at display details feel free to ask someone on the sale list to give you pointers. Better to ask than struggle on your own, we are all in this together.
Display Guidelines: We are asking everyone to consider using a simple, clean presentation. Gallerystyle: stands, shelves and boxes, with no additions to the display except plants, flowers or fruit in vessels for that purpose. Please no patterned backgrounds or cloths. For those new to the sale note that there are some 30"x72" tables available for our use at the hall. If you use a table it needs to have a nice, unwrinkled, plain coloured skirt and top.
Each participant will be allotted a 6'x6' display space to present their work. The floor plan will indicate where in the hall your display space will be located. When you arrive for set-up the corners of each display space will be marked on the floor with tape; the letter corresponding to the plan designation will be in each location to help you find your spot. Please remove the tape once your display is set up.
The display locations in the central part of the hall are arranged in "pod" groupings of three display
areas. These pods allow for a variety of display arrangements and it will be up to each group of threepod members to decide on the specific group arrangement they want (stand-alone displays or a sharedcenter space, etc.). The only requirement is to respect the individual display space areas and to ensurethat the passageways between pods remain open for visitors to circulate comfortably.
We ask exhibitors to pause once they have set up their display and before putting out pieces.
This is to allow the layout team an opportunity to make a last minute check of the general show layout in case any minor adjustments are needed for circulation, safety regulations or the overall feel of the sale.
Set-up/Take down:
Set-up Time: Friday, April 10, 5 – 8:30 pm. We encourage everyone to come as early as possible.
Saturday April 11: Open to exhibitors at 8:30am. Open to the public between 10:00 and 5:00. Thehall will be closed at 6:00pm.
Sunday April 12: Open to exhibitors at 9:00am. Open to the public between 10:00 and 4:30. We
need be totally cleaned up and out of the hall by 6 pm as another group has rented it. Therefore
we need everyone to take down their display promptly after closing at 4:30 (after a group photo) and to remain to help until the hall is completely cleared and cleaned.
Sales: Each participant is responsible for their own sales and cash. Individuals are responsible
for collecting HST if you are required to do so.
Wrapping: You are responsible for wrapping your items; please bring your wrapping materials; and if required include a surface in the design of your display area for wrapping smaller things. We areplanning to have a larger table in the hall for "communal" wrapping for large items or for many items at once. You may find it helpful to bring a friend to help with sales/or give you a break.
Lighting: The Room is fairly well lit. There is limited power available in the hall so please don't bring lights for your individual display. An option may be battery powered LED for highlights in shelving.
Greeters: We have found that it is very inviting for visitors to be greeted as they come into the hall.Since participants will be tending their displays we encourage you to ask any willing family and/or friends to come out, even for a short time to help greet folks at the door throughout the day.
Questions: Ask away and one of us will know the answer or be able to help.

Welcome to the 2015 Westend Pottery Sale!
Welcome to everyone--new & old-- participating in the Westend Pottery Sale. This blog is an attempt to keep relevant information in one place. It will be updated as needed. Please refer to it more than once!
This is our 5th year in Westboro! Our hope is that this event will promote excellence in ceramic art that is found in our community (Ottawa & environs). All work must be original and handcrafted.
Potters are responsible for their own sales, however, it's important that we all assist and support each other in a spirit of co-operation.
